Nvidia's 8.74 per cent jump puts AI revenue under the market spotlight

Nvidia rose 8.74 per cent as the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.57 per cent. Salesforce jumped 22.58 per cent and CrowdStrike about 20.5 per cent, with AI and subscription revenue prominent in both moves. Marvell's data-centre revenue grew 46 per cent to 79 per cent of sales. Together, the results show investors rewarding AI demand backed by accelerating revenue and recurring sales during the session.

Nvidia pulled the indexes apart

Nvidia closed the 27 August session up 8.74 per cent at 227.98 dollars. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.57 per cent, the S&P 500 0.72 per cent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average 0.2 per cent. That split reflects more than one large technology stock's index weight. Quarterly revenue rose 106 per cent from a year earlier to 96.2 billion dollars, while guidance for about 70 per cent revenue growth next year was nearly twice the analyst expectation. Broadcom gained 4.49 per cent and AMD fell 0.89 per cent, so the same demand outlook did not lift every chipmaker equally.[1]

Data-centre revenue became Marvell's backbone

Marvell's net revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 was 2.739 billion dollars, up 37 per cent from a year earlier. Data-centre revenue grew 46 per cent to 2.171 billion dollars and accounted for 79 per cent of the total. The company raised its fiscal 2027 and 2028 revenue outlooks and said AI-related bookings remained strong. Third-quarter guidance has a midpoint of 3.150 billion dollars. The figures show demand reaching beyond the leading accelerator maker to companies that connect data centres and supply custom chips, although the outlook remains management's forecast rather than an observed result.[2]

In software, recurring revenue won the reward

Salesforce shares rose 22.58 per cent. Revenue grew 11 per cent to 11.3 billion dollars, while Agentforce annual recurring revenue increased more than 240 per cent to 1.5 billion dollars. CrowdStrike jumped about 20.5 per cent; revenue rose 26 per cent to 1.47 billion dollars and annual recurring revenue grew 25 per cent to 5.84 billion dollars. Record net new recurring revenue reached 333 million dollars. Read alongside Nvidia and Marvell, the market reaction concentrated in companies turning AI demand into measurable revenue across hardware, enterprise software and cybersecurity subscriptions.[1], [2], [3], [4]
