CFTC and SEC push the Form PF compliance date to 1 July 2027
The CFTC and SEC moved the date for complying with the 2024 amendments to Form PF, the confidential report filed by private fund advisers, from 1 October 2026 to 1 July 2027. The joint final rule covers advisers registered with the SEC that are also registered as commodity pool operators or commodity trading advisors. The extension helps avoid significant implementation costs while rule changes are considered.

The Form PF compliance date moved to 1 July 2027 by joint decision
The CFTC and SEC moved the date for complying with the 2024 amendments to Form PF from 1 October 2026 to 1 July 2027. The old deadline was 1 October 2026; the new deadline is 1 July 2027. The CFTC and the SEC changed that date together, rescheduling when the compliance requirements will take effect. Form PF compliance is now due on 1 July 2027 rather than on 1 October 2026.[1]
The extension mitigates implementation costs for dual-registered advisers
The joint final rule covers advisers registered with the SEC that are also registered as commodity pool operators or commodity trading advisors. The CFTC and SEC delayed the 2024 Form PF amendments for that dual-registered set until 1 July 2027. The scope is advisers who carry a second, commodity-side registration as well as an SEC registration. The extension helps avoid significant implementation costs while rule changes continue to be considered by the agencies. 1 July 2027 becomes the new Form PF compliance day for those dual-registered advisers.[1], [2]
Form PF continues to function as a confidential report for private funds
Form PF is the confidential report filed by private fund advisers. The 2024 amendments attach directly to that form, and the agencies delayed the compliance date specifically for those amendments. The confidential report is a core piece of hedge-fund reporting. Private fund advisers continue to file Form PF; the 2024 amendments change what that filing contains and when it is due. Form PF remains a confidential report; the delay simply shifts when the 2024 amendments are required.[1]
