Hybrids help electrified sales take a larger share
Toyota Motor North America, the manufacturer’s regional operation for Toyota and Lexus vehicles, sold 633,223 vehicles in the US in the third quarter. Its results released on 1 October put annual growth at 0.6 per cent. Electrified models rose 28.5 per cent to 363,367 vehicles, accounting for 57.4 per cent of deliveries.[1]
Toyota’s electrified category includes hybrids and plug-in hybrids alongside other electrified options. The quarterly percentage therefore covers more than fully battery-powered vehicles. The overall quarterly increase was identical on a unit-volume and daily selling-rate basis.[1]
