The board presidency changes hands

Ömer Gökhan Tuncer won the İzmir Commodity Exchange board-chair election on October 10. Members chose the leadership for the 2026–2030 term at the İzQ Innovation Centre.[1], [2]

Tuncer received 36 votes, while the other candidate, Barış Kocagöz, received 16. One ballot was invalid. The elections also covered full and substitute board members, the disciplinary board, delegates to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, and the chairs and deputies of professional committees. Full board members include Nihat Sağır, Deniz Celep, Ali Koyuncuoğlu, Mustafa Elmas, Erdem Barış Kılıç, Suat Yıldırım, Ezgi Ulusoy Yılmaz, Evren Bayraktar, Onur Uçak and Necati Polat.[1]

The assembly elects Uçak in a separate vote

Bülent Uçak became assembly chairman with 30 votes. Özhan Şen received 20, and two ballots were invalid. Of the assembly’s 53 members, 52 participated in that vote. Mümin Yavuz, its oldest member, chaired the first meeting at which the assembly leadership was elected. Erol Avni Bozkurt and Murat Şenay became deputy chairmen; Erbey Zeki Ergen was elected secretary.[1]

New chairmen outline digitalisation plans

After the election, Tuncer thanked members and emphasized collective decision-making and digitalisation. He argued that agricultural trade had not fully used its digital potential, despite Türkiye’s agricultural-production position. Uçak said the exchange would work without discrimination once the elections were over. He described combining institutional traditions with technology and innovative production, while seeking solutions to the sector’s problems.[1]
