Institutional investors provide 800 million euros

SWI Group, a digital-infrastructure investor operating in Europe and the United States, announced an 800 million euro capital increase with institutional investors on 12 October. Its holding company, SWI Capital Holding, trades on Euronext Amsterdam. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand data centres and artificial-intelligence computing capacity on both sides of the Atlantic.[1], [2]

The transaction was carried out through several series of new ordinary shares. SWI Group said total share capital reached 558,399,385 ordinary shares. Total equity raised since March exceeded 1 billion euros.[1]

Free float reaches approximately 20 per cent

SWI Group said the transaction broadened its institutional shareholder base and raised its free float to approximately 20 per cent. The company said the additional equity strengthened its balance sheet and provided more financial capacity for its growth programme. Some investors receive options linked to their shares, conditional on specified equity-capital-market milestones.[1]

Power and computing infrastructure form part of the programme

Planned uses include power infrastructure, computing deployments and projects in the development pipeline. The company’s growth programme also covers further investment in artificial intelligence and increased stakes in existing investments. Founder and chief executive Max-Hervé George described the capital increase as an effort to keep pace with computing and data-centre markets, pointing to the project pipeline in Europe and the United States.[1]
