TSMC increased third-quarter net income by 68.7 per cent from a year earlier. Revenue also rose sharply, while advanced production technologies accounted for most wafer revenue. The Taiwan chipmaker reported both annual and quarterly growth, with its revenue growth rates differing according to whether they were calculated in Taiwan or US dollars.

Quarterly profit climbs
Taiwan chipmaker TSMC reported higher net income for the July-to-September quarter. Its third-quarter results were released on 15 October, covering the period ended 30 September.[1], [2]

Advanced technologies supply most wafer revenue
Technologies of 7 nanometres and more advanced accounted for 79 per cent of wafer revenue. Within that total, the 2-nanometre process supplied 8 per cent, the 3-nanometre process 33 per cent, the 5-nanometre process 28 per cent and the 7-nanometre process 10 per cent. The breakdown measures wafer revenue rather than all consolidated sales.[1]
