M3 electricity delay prompts a market announcement
NEXTDC, an Australian data centre operator, entered a trading halt while preparing a material announcement about delayed electricity supply to its M3 data centre in Melbourne, Australia. The company is assessing the consequences, including the potential impact on its previously announced financial-year 2027 guidance. Its board has not yet met to consider the power delay and its implications.[1], [2]
The company requested an immediate halt
NEXTDC requested the immediate suspension of trading in its ordinary shares in a letter dated 19 October. Its securities trade under the code NXT. The request used Listing Rule 17.1 of the Australian Securities Exchange and was intended to manage continuous disclosure obligations during the assessment. Company Secretary Michael Helmer signed the letter to the exchange’s listings compliance advisers. The exchange attached the request to its market announcement.[1]
The halt has an announcement-or-Wednesday endpoint
The exchange confirmed the halt at the company’s request, pending an announcement. Unless it decides otherwise, the halt ends at the earlier of that announcement and normal trading on Wednesday, 21 October. NEXTDC expected to make the M3 announcement within two days. It said it knew of no reason to refuse the halt and had no other information necessary at that point to inform the market about the request.[1]
