Adjusted earnings rise by one cent per share

Exelon, the US regulated utility group serving about 11 million customers, posted adjusted operating earnings of 0.87 dollars per share for the third quarter, compared with 0.86 dollars a year earlier.[1], [2]

On the standard US accounting measure, net income declined to 729 million dollars from 875 million dollars. Earnings per share fell from 0.86 dollars to 0.70 dollars. The adjusted total, which removes specified items, rose from 874 million dollars to 897 million dollars.[1]

Regulatory charge enters the earnings reconciliation

The company’s reconciliation included an after-tax regulatory charge of 130 million dollars and project impairments of 26 million dollars. Cost management programme expenses were 15 million dollars, while the environmental liability adjustment was negative 3 million dollars. Those adjustments separate reported net income from the operating earnings measure used in management’s guidance.[1]

Full-year guidance narrows and December dividend is declared

Exelon narrowed its 2026 adjusted operating earnings guidance to 2.85 dollars to 2.91 dollars per share. It kept its objective of growth near the upper end of its annual 5 per cent to 7 per cent target for 2025–2029. These ranges are management expectations. The company also declared a dividend of 0.42 dollars per ordinary share, payable on December 15 to shareholders registered on December 4.[1]
