Ameren lifts annual earnings target as quarterly net income rises

Ameren raised its annual earnings target after third-quarter net income reached 676 million dollars. Infrastructure investment returns and warmer weather in Missouri supported results, while maintenance expenses offset part of the gains. The electricity and gas utility also issued a 2027 earnings range and outlined planned infrastructure investment for its longer-term growth targets.

Quarterly net income reaches 676 million dollars

Ameren, a US electricity and gas utility, reported its third-quarter earnings.[1], [2]

Net income attributable to common shareholders rose to 676 million dollars from 640 million dollars a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share increased from 2.35 dollars to 2.42 dollars. The previous year’s adjusted comparison excludes a tax benefit: adjusted net income was 592 million dollars and adjusted earnings per share were 2.17 dollars.[1]

Investment returns and warmer weather support results

The company attributed growth to returns on infrastructure investment and investments in innovative energy technologies. It also cited higher electricity sales in Missouri, a US state, which it linked primarily to warmer weather. Reliability-focused tree trimming and power-station maintenance expenses partly offset those gains. Ameren Missouri’s quarterly earnings rose from 518 million dollars to 582 million dollars. Illinois electricity distribution earnings increased from 57 million dollars to 72 million dollars.[1]

Annual earnings target rises

Management raised its 2026 earnings guidance to 5.35–5.55 dollars per share from 5.25–5.45 dollars. Its initial 2027 range is 5.70–5.90 dollars. The company targets annual compound earnings-per-share growth of 8–10 per cent over 2027–2031, supported by planned infrastructure investment of 38.1 billion dollars. Nine-month net income reached 1,347 million dollars, compared with 1,204 million dollars a year earlier.[1]
