Net income reached 1,140 million dollars, up from 652 million dollars a year earlier. That total included 559 million dollars in unrealised gains on hedging transactions. Higher prices and plant contributions
The company linked the adjusted earnings increase to higher realised energy and capacity prices, a full quarter of contributions from plants acquired from Lotus and the restart of the first unit at its Martin Lake power station. Adjusted earnings in the Texas business reached 1,227 million dollars, against 784 million dollars a year earlier. The eastern business contributed 979 million dollars, up from 719 million dollars.[1]
