Bulgaria tightened security at an air base hosting American aircraft amid reports of Iranian strike plans against United States sites in Europe, while Tehran warned Gulf neighbors that assisting American forces constitutes participation in military operations.

Security measures at Bezmer

Bulgaria has elevated current security protocols beyond standard threat assessments at the Bezmer Air Base, a facility hosting American personnel and aircraft. A NATO official reiterated that the alliance remains fully prepared to defend all members, following widespread reports that Iran has considered striking United States military locations in Europe. The alliance previously intercepted four Iranian ballistic missiles fired directly towards Turkey.[1]

Warnings to the Gulf

As European military sites rapidly harden their defenses, Iran's armed forces chief of staff Ali Abdollahi issued a very direct warning to Arab states hosting American forces. He stated clearly that any facilitation provided to the American military would be treated as direct participation in an aggressive military operation. The remarks single out key countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain, underscoring the rising regional risks of a broader confrontation.[2]

Diplomatic fallout

These harsh military warnings intersect directly with rapidly deteriorating mutual economic relations in the region. The United Arab Emirates completely suspended all economic dealings with Iran only a day before the Iranian chief of staff's stark statement. Meanwhile, a NATO official reiterated the alliance's defensive stance as Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi reinforced his country's military posture, stating that any party taking part in an attack would bear full responsibility for all consequences alone.[2], [1]
