Zaporizhzhia stays on diesel through a third day of air raid alerts
Air raid alerts extended into a third day across much of Ukraine, with local officials reporting deaths and injuries around Kyiv and the air force reporting hundreds of drones downed or suppressed overnight. At the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, the IAEA said more than a week without off-site power had left the facility reliant on emergency diesel generators, with a 10-day fuel supply reported on site.

Alerts extend into a third day
Air raid alerts continued for a third consecutive day across much of Ukraine on Saturday. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a two-year-old girl was killed and eight people were injured in the capital's Obolonskyi district. The regional governor said a 14-year-old girl was killed in the Boryspil district. Ukraine's air force said 233 drones were shot down or suppressed overnight.[1]
Damage reports followed daytime drone activity
The Kyiv Independent reported that the air force said 224 drones were launched during Saturday daytime hours and that 199 had been intercepted by evening, while as many as 10 remained in Ukrainian airspace. Explosions were reported in Kyiv during the morning and damage was recorded in four districts. The report said this run of attacks followed a strike on a warehouse in the Bucha district on Friday night that killed at least 37 people and injured 42.[1]
Zaporizhzhia relies on emergency diesel
The IAEA said Europe's largest nuclear plant had been without external electricity for more than seven days and was operating on emergency diesel generators. It described this as loss number 27 of off-site power at Zaporizhzhia since February 2022. The site had a 10-day diesel supply and received deliveries from an alternative location on Thursday and Friday. The agency said six shut-down reactors still require continuous cooling.[2]
