A €200 million package in Nuuk

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a €200 million Global Gateway partnership package with Greenland in Nuuk. The Commission says the money will be invested this year and next, while Euronext gives the timetable as 2026 and 2027. AP News reports both the package and the new declaration signed the same day. The announced amount is therefore recorded by two news publishers as well as the direct institutional release.[1], [2], [3]

The investment list reaches everyday infrastructure

The package is not confined to one sector. The European Commission lists education and fisheries alongside satellite and cable connectivity, hydropower and critical raw materials; housing, sustainable tourism and support for small businesses are included as well. Euronext describes the same framework through digital connectivity, sustainable mining, energy, tourism, education, fisheries and housing. AP News likewise identifies internet connectivity, hydropower and critical raw minerals among the package's concrete investment areas.[1], [2], [3]

A joint declaration signed by three leaders

Von der Leyen, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signed the joint declaration during the same visit. The European Commission presents it as reinforcing the EU-Greenland-Denmark partnership in political and economic fields, describing Greenland as a strategic ally and trusted friend of the EU. AP News also records the three leaders' signatures and reports that the investment package supports areas of cooperation ranging from education to sustainable tourism.[1], [3]
