Houthi authorities said a strike on the prison in Hazm killed seven people, including a child, wounded at least seven and was carried out by Saudi Arabia. Footage from a Houthi channel described by AP showed a collapsed building and people searching rubble. Riyadh had not commented, and neither responsibility nor the casualty figures were independently confirmed.

Houthi authorities report seven deaths
Houthi authorities said the Central Corrective Facility in Hazm, in northern Yemen's Jawf province, was struck on September 7. The Houthi-run health ministry reported seven deaths, including a child, and at least seven wounded, including a woman. The Associated Press and Al Jazeera carried the account through separate editorial lineages, but both rely on Houthi sources for responsibility and casualty information.[1], [2]
Footage shows a collapsed building
The prison warden told the Houthi-run al-Masirah channel that 35 prisoners and a woman visiting her husband were trapped under rubble. The Associated Press described 46 seconds of footage aired by the channel showing a collapsed building, broken slabs and people searching the wreckage. The images show structural destruction but do not independently establish who carried out the strike or confirm the reported casualty figures.[2]
The accusation remains unanswered
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the strike and said attacks on Yemen would not go unanswered. Saudi Arabia's media ministry had not commented when the Associated Press published, and Al Jazeera also reported no response from Riyadh. Saudi responsibility and the reported numbers of dead and wounded therefore remain unverified claims made by Houthi authorities.[1], [2]
