A drone falls near Solca after minutes in Romanian airspace

Moldovan police told the Kyiv Independent they found a drone in Floresti with elements of the Gerbera type used by Russia, while a separate drone stayed about four minutes in Romanian airspace and crashed near Solca. Neither country reported deaths. Defence24 reported the Solca crash after about four minutes, two scrambled F-16s, and four objects over Moldova, with no casualties from the Romanian crash.

Solca and Floresti, the same night

Moldovan police said they found a drone in Floresti with elements of the Gerbera type used by Russia. In Romania a drone stayed about four minutes and crashed near Solca. Neither country reported deaths. The fallen pieces came during the night attack on Ukraine. Defence24 reported the same Solca crash after the drone flew for around four minutes inside Romanian airspace, and said the crash left no casualties or material damage. It also said Moldovan authorities reported that four aerial objects illegally entered the country's airspace that morning. DW reported the same Romanian entry through northern Botoșani, four minutes in the air, a crash near Solca, no victims, a temporary school suspension, and two F-16s from Borcea.[1], [2], [3]

Bucharest scrambled jets and withheld a direct tie

Romania did not tie the drone directly to Russia. Acting Defence Minister Radu Miruta called for a protest to Moscow. Defence24 said two Romanian F-16s were scrambled to monitor the drone and, if needed, shoot it down. Warnings went to residents in Botoșani and Suceava, and some schools in the region cancelled classes.[1], [2]

Moldova's count, still without a death

Defence24 said at least one of the Moldovan objects exploded near a farm and that no casualties had been reported so far. It described the objects as having entered from Ukraine during the overnight attack. Both accounts place debris at Floresti and near Solca, and both report no deaths. Romania did not tie the drone directly to Russia.[2], [1]
