Three visits scheduled for October 12–17
Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet will visit Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Kazakhstan on October 12–17, according to the programme announced on October 10. The tour follows invitations from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. It combines the regional summit in Baku with bilateral engagements in Türkiye and Kazakhstan. The announced itinerary sets out forthcoming meetings rather than results of visits already completed.[1], [2]
Baku summit brings regional leaders together
Hun Manet is scheduled to attend the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, or CICA, in Azerbaijan’s capital on October 15. The multilateral forum brings Asian countries together on cooperation and confidence building. The announced summit theme concerns stronger connectivity, digitalisation and sustainable growth. Cambodia’s foreign ministry expects meetings with other member-country leaders on the sidelines to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.[1]
The prime minister will lead a high-level delegation including Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron, who also serves as education, youth and sports minister. Other ministers, senior officials and members of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce will accompany him.[1]
Erdoğan talks precede official Astana meetings
A working visit to Türkiye is scheduled for October 16. Talks with Erdoğan are intended to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional and international issues of mutual concern. Hun Manet will then travel to Astana on October 17 for official meetings with Kazakhstan’s leadership about wider cooperation.[1], [2]
Cambodia established diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan in 1995 and with Türkiye in 1959. Cultural, education and security cooperation with Türkiye expanded after its embassy opened in Phnom Penh in 2013. Cambodia and Kazakhstan mark the thirty-second anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year. Trade, agriculture, information technology and energy are among their areas for broader cooperation. The tour also includes efforts to strengthen private-sector links with Azerbaijan, alongside trade, tourism, education and culture.[1]
