Successive missile waves trigger alerts across Kyiv
Russian ballistic missiles hit Ukraine’s capital Kyiv overnight on November 6–7, damaging residential buildings and a kindergarten. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said infrastructure was under attack and that debris had struck a five-storey apartment block in the western part of the city. The facade of another residential building was damaged. Emergency crews were sent to affected locations as officials continued warning residents about further strikes.[1], [2]
Kyiv Independent journalists heard repeated explosions during the night. Ukraine’s Air Force warned that ballistic missiles were heading towards the capital, and an initial all-clear was followed by another alert. The city military administration reported damage in the Solomianskyi district, including a fire at a non-residential building. The kindergarten damage was also reported in that district.[2]
The Air Force reported at least six missiles in the first barrage shortly before eleven at night on November 6. The all-clear came about 30 minutes later, but another alert sounded before midnight and journalists reported further explosions after one in the morning[2]
