Kaylia Nemour adds beam gold to her Rotterdam double
Kaylia Nemour won the balance-beam title at the World Championships in Rotterdam a day after taking uneven-bars gold. The Algerian gymnast improved on last year’s beam silver, having initially aimed simply to reach the final. Her two apparatus victories followed fourth place in the all-around, where a vault error had cost her.

Beam gold completes a two-title weekend
Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour won the balance-beam final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 25 October. She had taken uneven-bars gold the previous day, leaving her with two apparatus titles at the same championships. The beam victory improved on the silver medal she won on that apparatus last year. Nemour was already the 2024 Olympic champion and 2025 world champion on uneven bars.[1], [2]
Her first goal had been a place in the final
Nemour said her starting goal on beam had been to qualify for the eight-gymnast final. Before last year, she had never reached a major final on the apparatus. Reaching that stage and then winning silver had exceeded her initial target. In Rotterdam, she again viewed a place in the final as a major success rather than treating another medal as a requirement. She went on to win the title.[1]
Nemour describes changes across all four apparatuses
The two gold medals followed fourth place in the all-around, where Nemour made an error on vault. After her beam victory, she described improvement across all four apparatuses. She said she had gained power in her legs and changed how she approached and performed gymnastics. Work with coach Nadia Massé had helped her develop in several areas, she said, including managing the pressure that she felt would have been harder two or three years earlier.[1]
