Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park through second-half goals from Will Osula and Harvey Barnes. Joe Willock also found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside. Two second-half goals settle the match

Newcastle United beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park in London on 25 October. Will Osula opened the scoring shortly after half-time and Harvey Barnes added the second before the hour. The visitors kept Palace scoreless through the closing stages to secure an away Premier League victory. Newcastle had entered the match after losing three of their previous four games, including a home defeat by Aston Villa.[1], [2]

Osula, a Danish forward, was making his first start since the opening day of the season. Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle made five changes to his starting team for the trip. Dan Burn, Fabian Schär, Amar Dedić, Jacob Murphy and Osula all came into the line-up. Burn captained the side and returned to the back four alongside Schär.[1], [2]

Murphy and Dedić supply the scoring passes

Murphy crossed from the right at the start of the second half, and Osula prodded the ball home. Joe Willock then received a through ball from Joelinton and finished past Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez. A video review ruled Willock offside and disallowed the goal, leaving Newcastle’s lead at one.[1]

The second goal arrived in the 57th minute. Nico González passed to Dedić, whose cutback found Barnes. The forward finished for his fourth goal of the season. Earlier, Barnes had tried shots from distance that Palace defenders blocked.[1]

Horníček keeps Palace out

Palace had created early chances through Jean-Philippe Mateta. Lukáš Horníček stopped a close-range attempt, while another Mateta shot went wide. After Newcastle established their lead, the goalkeeper saved a curling effort from Adam Wharton and a long-range strike from substitute Darío Osorio. Palace could not turn those attempts into a goal.[1], [2]

Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga returned from injury as late substitutes. Both entered in the 77th minute alongside Yoane Wissa: Ramsey replaced Willock, Elanga came on for Barnes and Wissa replaced Osula. Sean Steur replaced Joelinton in the 85th minute, and Malick Thiaw came on for Dedić in the 90th. Newcastle’s club account placed the side seventh in the league following the win.[1]
