Two more Final Fours for the UAE capital
Euroleague Basketball, which runs Europe’s leading men’s club basketball competition, has agreed with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism to hold the Final Four in the United Arab Emirates capital in 2027 and 2029. Both editions follow the city’s first hosting of the championship’s concluding tournament in May 2025.[1], [2]
Etihad Arena is the announced venue for the 2027 tournament. The four qualifying clubs contest the semifinals on Friday 28 May, with the winners proceeding to the championship game on Sunday 30 May. The joint announcement identifies Abu Dhabi as the 2029 host as well, without specifying match dates for that edition.[1], [2]
Sunday includes the youth championship game
The Sunday programme begins with the final of adidas NextGen EuroLeague, the competition’s youth showcase, before the senior championship game. The two finals therefore form part of the same closing-day schedule. The senior semifinals are listed for the preceding Friday, placing the youth event alongside the main tournament’s title-deciding day.[1], [2]
Fenerbahçe Beko won the city’s first Final Four in 2025 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island. A capacity crowd of 12,000 attended. Organisers said tickets for that event had sold out within hours. The new agreement brings the championship back to the same city after that first tournament and extends its hosting partnership. The 2027 event uses that arena again; the city is confirmed for 2027 and 2029.[1], [2]
League renews its international partnership
Euroleague Basketball president Dejan Bodiroga welcomed the renewed agreement and thanked Abu Dhabi for its support. Chief executive Chus Bueno described it as a further step in the league’s international growth strategy. He presented the partnership as combining established European basketball markets with cities elsewhere that provide major sporting facilities and attract visitors.[1], [2]
The multiyear partnership was brokered by IMG, the league’s strategic partner. Experience Abu Dhabi remains a main partner of Euroleague Basketball competitions and the presenting partner of the Final Four. The collaboration includes destination branding in arenas, broadcasts and team jerseys. Abu Dhabi also staged the inaugural Euroleague Basketball SuperCup in September 2026.[1]
