Arizona wins after the change
Arizona Cardinals beat Dallas Cowboys 33-30 in overtime in the US National Football League. Replacement quarterback Gardner Minshew threw three second-half touchdown passes, and Chad Ryland kicked the winning field goal in the extra period. The Cardinals had spent much of the game behind before Minshew took over from Jacoby Brissett.[1], [2]
Dallas loses its cushion
Dallas led 14-3 at half-time. A Brandon Aubrey field goal stretched the advantage to 14 points in the third quarter, but Arizona changed quarterbacks late in that period and scored touchdowns on four consecutive possessions to close regulation. A touchdown is scored by taking or catching the ball in the end zone. Minshew completed 73.9 percent of his passes; Tyler Allgeier contributed through runs and short receptions.[1]
Ryland gets a second chance
Minshew's touchdown passes to Trey McBride and Michael Wilson kept the comeback going. After Wilson's late score, Ryland missed the extra-point kick, leaving the teams tied at 30-30. Neither side scored on its first overtime possession. Arizona then set up Ryland's winning field goal on its second chance. Dallas finished with two defensive takeaways and five sacks, but Arizona earned its first win in the teams' last ten meetings.[1]
