Three lightweight belts meet in El Paso
Britain’s Caroline Dubois will meet American Stephanie Han in a lightweight world-title unification bout in El Paso, Texas, on 20 February 2027. Dubois holds the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization titles, commonly known as the WBC and WBO belts. Han brings the World Boxing Association, or WBA, title. Their contest will take place at the Gecu Arena within the Don Haskins Center, putting the visiting British boxer in Han’s hometown for her attempt to collect another championship.[1], [2]
Dubois takes her challenge to Han’s hometown
Dubois said she was eager to return to the ring and travel to El Paso to add Han’s title to her collection. She expressed respect for the American’s achievements while making clear that winning the belt was her purpose. The London boxer unified her existing titles in April by defeating Terri Harper on the judges’ scorecards. Han has also defended her championship, including victories over former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder Holly Holm. Both women enter the announced contest unbeaten as professionals, with their existing belts at stake in the same division.[1]
The remaining belt keeps an undisputed contest conditional
The division’s remaining major title belongs to Türkiye’s Elif Nur Turhan, the International Boxing Federation champion. Turhan is scheduled to defend that IBF belt against Alycia Baumgardner in Texas on Sunday. Dubois has confirmed that she intends to watch from ringside. Baumgardner is moving up from super-featherweight for her challenge. She and Dubois are both represented by Most Valuable Promotions and have publicly expressed interest in fighting each other. Dubois confronted Baumgardner during the interview after her August win over Amelia Moore. A meeting for all the lightweight belts would depend on the relevant champions first winning their scheduled contests; no such additional bout has been announced.[1]
