Yenihayat wins the tie at the top
Türkiye’s Dunya Yenihayat took first place in the women’s recurve archery ranking round at the Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal. She finished on 688 points, level with South Korea’s Kim Sumin. India’s Gatha Anandrao Khadake followed on 687, leaving only one point between the top three archers after qualification.[1], [2]
Inner tens settle the top seed
The 17-year-old Yenihayat established a Youth Games record over the 72-arrow session at Abdoulaye Wade stadium. Kim had landed more arrows in the ten ring, but Yenihayat led on inner tens, the shots marked closest to the centre. She recorded 24 against Kim’s 18, securing the top seed through that tie-break rather than a higher points total.[1]
Senior medals preceded the Dakar record
Yenihayat arrived with experience of competing for Türkiye’s senior team at 70 metres, ten metres beyond the standard under-18 distance. Her results included gold at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, and silver at the World Cup in Puebla, Mexico. Spain’s Sandra Perez Cumbreras finished fourth in the Dakar ranking round with 673 points.[1]
