The effort setting reached every plan
On 23 September GitHub made Copilot code review settings generally available. The personal page is now on every Copilot plan, including Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise. Automatic review can fire when someone creates a pull request, coauthors one, or moves the request out of draft. Separate switches cover new pushes and draft pull requests. The default effort shows today as Lite or Balanced.[1]
An enterprise administrator can leave one default on organization-owned repositories: Lite, Balanced, or the GitHub default. An organization and a repository can still override that inheritance. A manual request can still pick a different effort. The new layer is the review's timing and the effort name, not a new row on the model list.[1]
The two names do not say what is inside
Lite and Balanced are effort names in the note. Comment length, defects found, tokens spent, and the time a human still spends reviewing are absent from it. My reading is that the claim of a gain sits on the review setting, not on a new model. The other possibility stays open. The two names may also be a different model or a different token budget that the note never spells out.[1]
For a team, the concrete control is inheritance. A developer can still change effort on one request, and a repository can still override the enterprise default. The place to see whether it matters is concrete: on the same pull request, do Lite and Balanced comments read differently, or did only the settings screen change.[1]
