Google Home MCP lets outside agents run Nest devices
TechCrunch says Google opened a Model Context Protocol server so Claude, Hermes, OpenClaw, ChatGPT and Antigravity can use Google Home devices and event history after a Cloud project sign-in, rolling out to US Premium Advanced subscribers at 20 dollars a month. 9to5Google adds Nest cameras, thermostats and Matter bulbs plus example jobs such as cross-camera summaries.

Setup is a Cloud project, then the agent asks for permission
Sarah Perez writes that Google opened early access to a Model Context Protocol server for Google Home so any MCP-capable agent, including Claude, Hermes, OpenClaw, ChatGPT and Google Antigravity, can work with devices and event history. Users create a Google Cloud project, hand the MCP details to the agent, then sign in and grant permissions; a guide will sit in the Google Home Developer Center. Access starts today and continues over coming weeks for subscribers who pay for Google Home Premium Advanced in the United States, the 20 dollar a month tier. Google would not say if or when MCP would reach other tiers or markets.[1]
The agent can read cameras, history and speak on a speaker
Abner Li, writing 16 September 2026, says Google announced Home MCP so a personal agent that can call MCP tools, including Antigravity, Claude, Hermes and OpenClaw, can interact with devices and event history in the Google Home ecosystem. That includes Google Nest cameras and doorbells, Nest thermostats and Matter light bulbs. Example jobs: summarize what the kids did across cameras after school; count laundry loads or how long lights stayed on from device history; send an audio message over a Google Home speaker when an asynchronous task finishes; build a custom dashboard.[2]
The same MCP door is what both reports describe
TechCrunch and 9to5Google both describe Home MCP as the way an outside agent reaches Google Home devices and history. Perez names the US Premium Advanced paid rollout; Li names the Nest and Matter device classes and the camera-summary examples.[1], [2]
