NEC plans security-monitoring handovers across Japan, Europe and the US

NEC has announced an international operating plan for CyIOC, its security service combining AI with threat intelligence. It aims to open a European centre in April 2027 and coordinate teams in Japan, Europe and the United States from July 2027. Handovers across regional business hours are intended to sustain continuous monitoring through a shared platform covering customers’ overseas offices and group companies.

NEC sets dates for European and shared operations

NEC, the Japanese technology company, announced an expansion of international operations for its CyIOC cybersecurity service on October 5. The plan schedules a European Cyber Intelligence & Operation Center for April 2027. Coordination among centres in Japan, Europe and the United States is targeted for July 2027. The dates concern planned operations, with the European centre still to open.[1], [2]

Regional teams are meant to hand over monitoring

NEC intends the centres to use common security platforms and operating rules. Teams working during regional business hours would take over the same monitoring service across time zones. The arrangement is intended to maintain continuous coverage throughout the year and let customers view conditions across their overseas offices and group companies together.[1], [2]

Threat intelligence and AI form the existing service

CyIOC combines NEC’s threat intelligence with AI technology to support identifying signs of attacks, defence, response and sharing international risk information. The expansion changes how that service is operated across regions. NEC also plans support for regional data-storage requirements. AI Watch reports that functions supporting mandatory reports to Japanese authorities are being provided ahead of the wider international structure. That support concerns Japan’s cyber-response capacity legislation taking effect in October.[1]
