LINE turns parenting notices into to-do lists

LINE Yahoo launched parenting support in Japan through Agent i, combining age-based reminders with tasks created from photographs of notices. Parents can organize vaccinations, checkups and administrative procedures and add their own deadlines. Child profiles supply age and location context, while general lists and AI chat remain available without registering a child.

Parenting support opens inside Agent i

LINE Yahoo, the Japanese company behind the LINE messaging app and Yahoo! JAPAN services, launched parenting support through Agent i on 14 October.[1], [2]

The assistant is accessible in LINE, while access through the Yahoo! JAPAN app is being introduced in stages. It brings childcare-related administration and task organization into the company’s AI service.[1]

Notice photographs become tasks

Parents can photograph municipal or hospital notices and maternal and child health handbooks to create tasks through image recognition. An age-based roadmap also gathers vaccinations, health checkups and administrative procedures. Users can enter their own tasks, choose suggestions from chat and add deadlines. Location information helps identify relevant municipal procedures and support programmes, while a child’s profile supplies context for chat responses.[1]

Profiles cover up to four children

The service covers tasks from pregnancy until a child reaches 18. Up to 4 children can be registered using a nickname, birth date or expected delivery date, and residential area, with consent for personal-information use. General lists and AI chat remain available without a child profile. Related answers from Yahoo! Chiebukuro, the company’s question-and-answer community, can appear alongside chat. The service is not intended for users under 13.[1]
