Sakana Chat’s My Fish shows what it remembers and how memories connect

Sakana AI added My Fish to reveal the memory behind Sakana Chat’s personalized replies. Users can inspect remembered preferences and projects, trace their use over time and follow connections between them. A map changes the size and position of memories according to use, while individual entries link back to the conversation that supplied them.

September’s memory gains a visible interface

Sakana AI added My Fish to Sakana Chat on October 15, giving users a view of what the AI chat service remembers and when it draws on those memories. The interface exposes preferences, projects and other information retained for later conversations, along with connections between individual memories.[1], [2]

The memory function had been introduced in September and worked in the background. Sakana AI says it selects useful information instead of keeping every conversation verbatim. It is enabled by default. A continuing preference for casual answers in Japanese, an ongoing project or a goal can become part of that memory, so the next exchange can pick up earlier context.[1]

Lists and history trace remembered information

My Fish opens from Settings on the web and mobile. A heatmap shows when the service learned something new or used a memory. It stays at the top as users move between views. The list groups stored information under categories such as profile, preferences and ongoing projects; the history arranges memory activity chronologically.[1], [2]

Individual entries show contents, usage counts and the last time they were used. Opening one reveals details and the conversation in which it was learned, with a route back to that chat. The history view also lets users inspect the facts added when new information entered memory.[2]

A map follows frequency and recency

The connection map gives each memory a circle. Recently used information sits nearer the center; more frequent use makes a circle larger. Animated lines connect memories used in the same conversation. Related entries also act as links that users can follow around the map, while selecting the central My Fish circle opens the user’s profile.[2]

During a conversation, small chips appear when Sakana Chat uses a memory or learns something new. Selecting the indicator opens the corresponding information in My Fish, including an indication of how many memories were checked. This offers another route to the memory view without first going through Settings.[2]
