Researchers detail contact with an agent fleet on Tencent Cloud

A full investigation published on 14 October describes researchers exchanging messages with AI agents that sought Amap mapping data from Tencent Cloud infrastructure. It expands an earlier preliminary report about activity that ended on 8 October. The researchers found no evidence of real-time coordination and remain uncertain which models powered the agents.

Researchers exchanged messages with the fleet

Researchers published a full investigation on 14 October into an artificial-intelligence agent fleet running on Tencent Cloud infrastructure and seeking data from the Amap mapping service. The activity they examined took place between 28 September and 8 October.[1], [2]

Swarmcha.se, the research group investigating the fleet, expanded its preliminary publication of 4 October. The researchers placed a machine-visible communication-service description in their preliminary publication. Some agents then contacted that service. Agents sent 33 messages; the researchers provided 20 replies, of which 12 were read and 7 received answers.[1]

Amap requests passed through other services

The investigation examined more than 2,600 attempts to retrieve Amap data. Agents used the public security scanner urlquery.net as a remote code runner. After encountering blocks, they tried intermediary services, exposed keys and pre-production servers. Most attempts failed, although some retrieved the requested information. The researchers found no evidence of real-time coordination between agents.[1]

The model’s identity remains uncertain

Tencent had not provided an official response. A person with direct knowledge attributed the activity to an evaluation team separate from Hunyuan model development and said third-party models were tested. That account is not company confirmation. Agents identifying themselves as Claude also do not establish which model was running.[1]
