Graham Dot Zip confirms viral AI job interview was a parody

A viral video showing an applicant’s AI representative negotiating with an AI recruiter depicts a staged encounter. Creator Graham Dot Zip confirmed that he was not taking part in real interviews. He said the dialogue was improvised and the models’ responses were genuine, distinguishing the generated conversation from the fictional recruitment setting that circulated as authentic.

The creator confirms the interview setting was staged

Graham Dot Zip, the creator of a widely shared AI interview video, confirmed that the encounter was a parody. He told Lead Stories editor-in-chief Alan Duke by email that he was not taking part in real job interviews. The fact-checking outlet published that confirmation on October 18, after copies of the performance had circulated on social platforms as an authentic recruitment exchange.[1]

Victor exaggerates experience and proposes a low salary

In the video, Graham introduces Victor, an AI assistant acting as his representative, and says the assistant has a stronger grasp of his résumé. When Victor overstates Graham’s work experience, Graham tries to put the account right. The assistant then suggests an annual salary of 60,000 dollars, which Graham rejects as too low. The exchange eventually becomes a repeated round of goodbyes as the agents respond to one another, requiring another intervention from Graham.[1]

Improvised model responses were part of the performance

Graham also said the conversations were improvised and that the AI responses were real, rather than lines he had scripted in advance. His October 12 YouTube upload presented the premise that he and the company had each sent an AI to the interview. The later email clarifies the setting in which that dialogue occurred. The salary discussion and claims about experience belong to the performance; they are not a verified job offer or employment history.[1]
