Siri AI gains five languages in Apple’s public updates

Apple’s public operating-system updates bring Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, extending support beyond English. The language expansion arrives with the 27.2 releases for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Apple’s iPhone release notes also describe conversation recall, access to more personal information and controls over excluded apps; regional restrictions on Siri AI remain in place.

The five-language release

Apple’s Siri AI assistant now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish alongside English in the company’s public operating-system updates. MacRumors reports the language expansion with iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, while 9to5Mac reports it with macOS 27.2 Golden Gate. The new languages had been announced at Apple’s September event; the development reported on October 26 is their arrival in the released software.[1], [2]

The original Siri AI release had supported English with macOS 27, iOS 27 and the other version 27 updates. The corresponding 27.2 releases extend the assistant’s language support across those systems. Apple’s iPhone release notes, reproduced by MacRumors, continue to state that Siri AI is unavailable in the European Union and mainland China. Language support and those regional restrictions are both described in the released notes.[1], [2]

Returning to earlier conversations

Apple’s iPhone release notes say Siri AI can recall past conversations, allowing a user to ask about information the assistant supplied earlier. The example concerns restaurants recommended the previous week. The capability described in the notes retains useful context from earlier interactions so that a new request can refer back to a previous answer, rather than requiring the user to repeat that earlier exchange. The same notes list more personal information the assistant can draw on: photos attached in Messages, people attending Calendar events, voicemails, and results from Safari history and Reading List. These are sources of context available to the assistant within the described software functions. The notes present them alongside conversation recall in the Siri AI changes included with the iPhone update.[1]

App access and response selection

An Excluded Apps setting lets users choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access, according to the release notes. The setting brings those access choices together. The notes also describe granular text selection, allowing someone to select and copy only the part of a Siri response they need. MacRumors lists these controls within the Siri AI section rather than as separate applications. MacRumors says the iPhone and iPad releases can be downloaded through Software Update in Settings. Separately, 9to5Mac confirms that Mac users can install the Golden Gate update carrying the same five additional languages. The reports describe the public software releases following the earlier announcement of expanded language support, with the iPhone notes spelling out conversation context and app-access controls for the assistant.[1], [2]
