Donald Trump wrote that Bombardier can no longer sell in the United States unless it moves manufacturing there. The company said it already builds wings in Texas and flight-control parts in California, employs 3,500 people and spends 2.5 billion dollars a year with suppliers in 47 states. Brent crude nears 100 dollars after strikes halt operations at Saudi Arabia's Jizan refinery
Brent crude oil prices reached 99.22 dollars a barrel after strikes by Houthi forces on energy facilities in southern Saudi Arabia. Operations at several sites, including Saudi Aramco's 400,000-barrel-a-day Jizan refinery near the Yemeni border, were suspended. Saudi authorities reported more than 70 injuries and described the strikes as a dangerous escalation. The incident marks the third attack in two months.
Britain bans West Bank settlement goods; Saar shuts the UK consulate in Jerusalem

Cambricon takes a Platinum seat on the PyTorch Foundation board
The PyTorch Foundation said at its Shanghai conference that Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon have joined as Platinum members and Ant Group as a Gold member. Platinum membership carries one seat on the governing board and one on the technical advisory council. Cambricon enters the board at that tier; Alibaba Cloud takes a seat at the same tier. The foundation reports that more than 250 organisations in China contribute to projects including PyTorch, vLLM, DeepSpeed, Ray and Safetensors.
Canada's counter-tariffs on more than 700 US products come into force
Canada put tariffs of 15 per cent to 50 per cent on nearly 20 billion dollars in US dollars and 28 billion dollars in Canadian dollars of US imports into force on Tuesday, covering more than 700 products. Prime Minister Mark Carney had said Ottawa would match Washington's tariffs dollar for dollar. The targeted goods include steel, household appliances, agricultural equipment, dairy, machinery, textiles and consumer products. The measures answer the 50 per cent tariffs Donald Trump announced in July; talks in August ended without agreement.
Canada's tariffs on 20 billion dollars of US goods take effect at rates up to 50 per cent
Canada imposed tariffs on about 20 billion dollars of American goods on Tuesday, at rates of 15 per cent, 25 per cent or 50 per cent. FreightWaves reported that the duties took effect just after midnight and cover 27.6 billion Canadian dollars of US imports. The list includes steel, aluminium, cheese, appliances and farm equipment.
