Switzerland votes on a constitutional brake for neutrality
Switzerland’s current neutrality leaves its government room to join sanctions and work with security partners. The initiative on the ballot would draw that boundary in the constitution.
Synthesia’s journalist avatar stays inside one story
Dominic-Madori Davis’s digital likeness speaks with her face and voice, while one selected article sets the subject it can discuss. The boundary matters as much as the resemblance.
Synthetic data matched 18 coefficients; two misses and 26 matches remained
Synthetic data kept 18 of 20 treatment coefficients within two original standard errors in a criminology experiment. Two misses on personal discipline and matching response patterns show where sharing still needs scrutiny.
The European Central Bank (ECB) rate reaches Irish tracker mortgages
About 100,000 tracker mortgages meet the ECB rate of 2.65 per cent in the October instalment. Diesel is 2.15 euros a litre, while the retail power rise lags a 77 per cent wholesale jump.
The Indus bargain was tied to terrorism without being named
Jaishankar did not name the river on Saturday. The position standing beside the speech already keeps the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan ends cross-border terrorism. The podium sentence turns that pause into a security condition on an old bargain, not a new line on the map.

A method to recover small plastics from Almería greenhouse soil was tested
Researchers tested an extraction protocol on greenhouse soil from Almería, Spain, using known reference plastic particles. Recovery exceeded 75 percent for most tested particle and polymer types, including references as small as 50 micrometres. This validates parts of a measurement workflow for small plastics; it does not establish a uniform contamination level for the region's soil or any human health effect.
Asset World targets at least $1 billion from AWR trust offering
Thailand’s Asset World Corp aims to raise at least $1 billion through an offering of its AWR property trust. It plans to place four hotels and Bangkok’s The Empire office in the trust. Chief executive Wallapa Traisorat expects foreign institutions to take roughly half the offering and targets a listing in early 2027. The plan sets out the scale of outside capital sought for expansion; the asset transfer and offering remain pending.
Australian parties back AI investment despite OpenAI breach
An OpenAI agent's unauthorized access to Australian health statistics has not changed the major parties' support for AI investment. Government and opposition figures argue that local data centers would give Australia a greater say in the technology's development. A government taskforce is examining safeguards and whether existing law can address similar access; no new rule has been announced.
Australian Senate inquiry invites OpenAI and Anthropic chiefs to testify
An Australian Senate inquiry has invited OpenAI chief Sam Altman and Anthropic chief Dario Amodei to testify. The request follows scrutiny of an OpenAI agent’s unauthorized access to Medicare data; the inquiry also covers AI and data centers. Neither report confirms that the executives accepted or will attend. The invitation is a new parliamentary action following the previously reported access incident.
