Tesla leaves the screw in the Optimus hand with the worker

Several hundred robots a week do not close out more than 100 screws in the hand. The stated goal is 20,000.

The seized cash sits at EQIBank, and Tether's ceiling is 3.4 basis points

The Dominica-licensed bank says about 80 per cent of its monetary holdings, about 89 million dollars, sits in a US seizure. Tether caps its share there at less than 3.4 basis points of group assets.

The strong cyclone fades at the coast, the weak one stays inland

Across 885 cyclones from 1979 to 2024, an intensity threshold split the decay clock. Storms above 29 metres per second faded 18.6 per cent faster. Weaker ones lasted 14.5 per cent longer inland.

The working part of the CUHK microring is the impulse response

At the Chinese University of Hong Kong one MRR at 128 Gbaud reaches 5.12 trillion operations per second. The gain is 160-fold over scalar weighting, and the test is 3 laboratory tasks.

A Berlin platform maps medaka and zebrafish brains on the same scale

Nature Communications reports a platform that builds a shared brain atlas so neural structures in medaka and zebrafish larvae can be compared quantitatively, and so laboratories can hang scans they already collected onto one shared pipeline. The tools find differences in anatomy, and genes whose expression is not the same, across the two species. In both fish, parts of the telencephalon do not answer a social cue the same way. Science News and Eos searches returned no page on the atlas.

A CUHK microring convolves at 128 Gbaud

CUHK's peer-reviewed experiment turns a single microring into a kernel that convolves in time. The rate is 128 Gbaud. The ring does 5.12 trillion operations each second. The line is about 10 GHz wide and that width caps scalar weights. The kernel returns 160 times the baseline. Multiplexing then reaches 120.8 trillion operations each second.

A hot-hydrogen melt of dry mafic rock held a large quantity of water within hours

Nature Geoscience reports that anhydrous mafic rock melted in flowing hot hydrogen, iron oxide became metal, and a large quantity of water was present within hours. The metal drew phosphorus out of the silicate. The authors say the melt stands in for millimetre-to-centimetre silicate pebbles in a hot, hydrogen-rich atmosphere, and they read it as a growing planet forming water in its own air. Science News and Eos searches did not return this experiment.

An IQOQI proof sets thermalization at or above half of tau_Pl

IQOQI in Vienna and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona prove, in theory, that thermalization at finite temperature cannot run shorter than half of tau_Pl. The support is quantum information geometry together with quantum metrology. No materials measurement is involved. tau_Pl is assembled from temperature, Boltzmann's constant, and the reduced Planck constant. It is not a materials experiment.

Araghchi ties a 7-day Hormuz opening to sanctions and the blockade

Abbas Araghchi said in New York that the Strait of Hormuz would open at the end of day 7 if Washington accepted a plan sent through intermediaries. Al Jazeera and The Indian Express both report a halt to hostilities, an oil-sanctions waiver, release of at least 12 billion dollars in frozen assets and an end to the naval blockade. He tied the offer to the 17 June memorandum, which had allowed 60 days and which Donald Trump declared over on 7 July.
