GraphBind uses graph connections to learn from incomplete text and image data
GraphBind uses the connections between data points to bring incomplete text and image attributes into a shared representation. A single preprint tests the method on classification and generation tasks, treating graph structure as a guide to combining modalities. The reported comparisons concern the datasets and missing-data settings examined by the authors, rather than every graph with incomplete information.
HDFC Bank’s deposits grow faster than its loans
HDFC Bank’s provisional September-quarter update puts annual deposit growth at 18.8 per cent, ahead of the 16.3 per cent increase in gross advances. Time deposits expanded faster than current and savings accounts. The Indian lender also disclosed foreign-currency funding under a central-bank swap facility. The update describes business volumes before the quarter’s final earnings and limited auditor review.
India and Switzerland sign mobility and young-professional agreements
Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin signed migration and mobility agreements during talks in New Delhi, including a framework for young professionals. Modi said the measures would open opportunities for Indian students, researchers and workers. The visit builds on the existing India–EFTA trade agreement, whose investment and employment targets are long-term commitments rather than results already achieved.
Ingenia opens its books to Warburg Pincus’s takeover proposal
Ingenia Communities is allowing Warburg Pincus initial, non-exclusive due diligence over its proposed takeover. The non-binding offer remains at 5.25 Australian dollars per security. Ingenia continues to pursue its acquisition of Peet, and its board has not classified the competing bid as superior. Ending the Peet agreement under the stated conditions would carry a 10 million Australian dollar fee.
Iron ions sustain pollutant removal in a 500-hour electrochemical test
A single peer-reviewed study added ferric ions to a diamond-electrode wastewater process and investigated changes in water bonding at the electrode. A continuous-flow experiment maintained approximately 95 per cent removal of the tracked contaminant over 500 hours. The proposed mechanism combines faster radical formation with longer-lived iron species. These controlled results do not establish performance across industrial wastewater mixtures or installed plants.
IWF’s six-month AI abuse-image count exceeds the whole of 2025
IWF’s analysts counted 6,310 still images depicting child sexual abuse and made with AI during January–June 2026. That six-month assessment already surpasses the organisation’s total for the previous year. A single Guardian report sets out the new figures and IWF’s demand for binding legislation. The dataset measures assessed material, rather than every abusive image available online.
Japan’s Nikkei gains 2 per cent after weaker US hiring cools Fed rate bets
Japanese shares rallied 2 per cent in Monday’s Asian trading after Friday’s US employment report showed only 29,000 jobs added in September and downward revisions to the two months before. CME FedWatch put the chance of an October Federal Reserve rate rise below 20 per cent, against 64 per cent a week earlier, though traders still priced a December increase. Holidays in China, South Korea and parts of Australia thinned trading, and US 10-year Treasury yields stayed above 5.2 per cent.
Kiir travels to Kenya with election preparations on the agenda
South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir travelled to Kenya on October 4 for talks with William Ruto on election preparations, regional stability and economic cooperation. His spokeswoman said the visit would seek support for peaceful and credible voting on December 22. The announced agenda also includes cooperation over Kenya’s Lamu refinery; no resulting agreement has been announced.

Users describe a meeting and receive candidate dates, with assistance preparing availability responses from their own calendars. The agent can suggest individual adjustments when no date suits everyone, while participants decide whether to change their answers. A selected gathering can be added to LINE Calendar.
Medicine Nobel honors the scientists who brought light control to nerve cells
The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine went to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel for light-gated ion channels and optogenetics. The October 5 decision recognizes earlier research that made selected nerve cells controllable with light. The award announces scientific recognition rather than a new experiment or an approved treatment.
