All four members contribute to New Feeling
Talking Heads have announced Talking Heads: New Feeling, a book involving all four members of the band. David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Jerry Harrison and Chris Frantz are contributing to the project.[1], [2]
Each member has written an original essay. Contributions also come from musicians Lorde and Debbie Harry, writer Karl Ove Knausgaard and actor Jeff Bridges. The announced publication date is 18 May. The book combines members’ writing with visual and handwritten material kept from the band’s history.[1]
Handwritten lyrics and private photographs leave the archive
Harrison told publisher Abrams Books that the group retrieved handwritten lyrics, original album sketches and private photographs. Some had remained in the archive for more than forty years. These materials sit alongside the newly written contributions, giving the members’ accounts a visual counterpart in documents and images retained from their work together.[1]
Stop Making Sense appears behind the scenes
New Feeling also contains behind-the-scenes photographs from Stop Making Sense, the band’s 1984 concert film. A restored version returned to cinemas for a limited engagement in 2023. Before promoting that re-release, the four members had not appeared together for decades. The film’s restoration brought them together again for public appearances.[1]
