A Hollywood screening ends with a surprise preview

Quentin Tarantino showed the first 17 minutes of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth at AFI Fest, the American Film Institute’s festival in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The presentation on 23 October followed a screening of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and a discussion at the TCL Chinese Theatre.[1], [2]

Jacqueline Coley moderated the conversation. David Fincher, director of the new film, attended. Tarantino wrote its screenplay, and Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, the character he played in the earlier film.[1]

Cliff Booth’s story moves from 1969 to 1977

The follow-up is set in 1977, eight years after the earlier film’s 1969 story. Booth works as a bartender, projectionist and fixer. Tarantino spoke about his affection for the character and Pitt’s portrayal, saying he could imagine further adventures unfolding like a series of paperback books.[1]

Fincher’s film has separate cinema and streaming dates

The Netflix production is scheduled for an IMAX cinema release on 25 November and streaming on 23 December. Elizabeth Debicki plays talent agent Karen Crosby. Scott Caan portrays television star Charlie Peters, with Carla Gugino as his wife Toni. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays former football star Roderick Hot Rod Harrison. Peter Weller also appears in the cast.[1]
