Gerard Way wants My Chemical Romance recording in 2027
Gerard Way told a Hollywood Bowl crowd that My Chemical Romance wants to make a record next year and hopes to return to the stage in 2028. The statement gives a timeframe to an ambition he had discussed in September. The band’s most recent studio album remains Danger Days, released in 2010.

Way gives the recording ambition a timeframe
Gerard Way, singer of the rock band My Chemical Romance, told the Hollywood Bowl audience in Los Angeles on October 30 that the group wants to make a record in 2027. He also expressed hope of seeing fans again in 2028. The remarks presented the band’s intentions, without a confirmed release date or a formally announced tour. The comments came during the first of two special Halloween weekend shows at the venue.[1], [2]
Danger Days remains the last studio album
My Chemical Romance last released a studio album in 2010, with Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The band split in 2013 and reunited in 2019. Since reuniting, it has released one new song, The Foundations of Decay, released in 2022. A further studio record would follow that single and the long gap since Danger Days.[1], [2]
Earlier plans were disrupted after a producer’s death
Way had discussed the wish to record again at the tour’s San Antonio stop in September. In that earlier account, he recalled longtime collaborator and producer Doug McKean, who worked on The Foundations of Decay before dying later in 2022. Way said the band had been excited about further recording after that song, but McKean’s death and other circumstances disrupted those plans.[1]
