Favor arrives before the film’s companion album
Gigi Perez, a Cuban-American singer, songwriter and producer from South Florida, released Favor on 30 October. The track belongs to the album accompanying The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. MCA has announced the full album for 13 November. Favor follows earlier soundtrack releases by Noah Kahan and The Smashing Pumpkins, whose contributions are Draw You Out and Black Stars respectively.[1], [2]
Perez draws on grief and childhood attachment
Perez says The Hunger Games stories have mattered to her since childhood. She describes writing Favor through her own experience of grief and the wish to reconnect with loved ones who have died. The new song places that personal experience within the fictional world. Perez previously handled production herself on her debut album At The Beach, In Every Life; her earlier work includes the single Sailor Song.[1]
Dave Cobb oversees music for Haymitch’s story
Producer Dave Cobb oversees the album as executive producer. Its announced 29-title running order places Favor at number 13. The project contains original music inspired by the film’s story and characters. The film adapts Suzanne Collins’s novel under director Francis Lawrence. Joseph Zada plays the young Haymitch Abernathy, Mckenna Grace portrays Maysilee Donner and Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Lawrence are the producers.[1]
