Hong Kong’s museum festival opens with a carnival of city memories
Hong Kong’s month-long museum festival has begun with a two-day carnival at the Cultural Centre Piazza. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department plans more than 60 programmes across its 17 museums and art spaces through November 30. A two-day carnival opens Muse Fest
Hong Kong’s museum festival began on October 31 with a two-day carnival at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. The event, organised by the territory’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department, continues through November 30. Museums will hold further special programmes during the month, following the opening carnival on October 31 and November 1.[1], [2]
Old streets return as pixel installations
The department announced more than 60 programmes at its 17 museums and art spaces. The carnival’s Hong Kong Story theme connects with a new permanent exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Three installations blend old city scenes with pixel forms: a tea stall and giant egg tart, a traditional medicine shop and a coin-throwing amusement stall. Free workshops include mahjong colouring, herbal-tea-sign keychains and pawnshop-signboard painting.[1]
Heritage walks extend the programme
November weekend events extend beyond the opening site. The programme includes guided walks and workshops on the Ping Shan Heritage Trail, a historic route in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre pairs a Hakka architecture tour with a three-dimensional model workshop. Oi!, an art space, offers sensory tours of Art Oasis. The department said ten Greater Bay Area Museum Alliance members and 24 art organisations from Macao and Hong Kong are also participating.[1]
