A Christmas song set for November
Bonnie Tyler’s final studio recording, Love, Light and Peace, is scheduled for November 13 as a Christmas single. The announcement follows her death in July at 75. Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten wrote the song, with Britten and David Mackay producing. Its release brings a completed vocal performance to listeners after the singer’s death.[1], [2]
Independent songs between concerts
Tyler’s husband Robert Sullivan described her visiting Mackay’s studio between live shows to work on new songs. He said he wanted people to hear the music she left behind. After her last recording contract ended, Tyler began issuing songs independently: Yes I Can appeared on the first day of 2025, followed by Only Love in March. Britten’s connection with her reaches back to his guitar playing on her 1977 debut, The World Starts Tonight.[1]
A career that began in Welsh clubs
Born Gaynor Hopkins, Tyler grew up in Neath and was discovered by Roger Bell in a Swansea club. Lost in France took her into the British singles chart in 1976, early in a career marked by her husky voice and songs such as Total Eclipse of the Heart. Fans gathered in Swansea for an August celebration of her life. A European Jubilee Tour had been planned for November to mark the fiftieth anniversary of her chart breakthrough.[1]
