Saya Gray releases the seven-track Qwerty III

Saya Gray has released Qwerty III, the third installment in her experimental EP series, with seven tracks. It follows entries from 2023 and 2024 and comes after last year’s Saya album. Gray describes the shorter releases as experiments between larger projects. Pitchfork also reports a New York house show where she plans to perform the new songs.

The series returns

Canadian musician Saya Gray released Qwerty III on November 3, returning to the shorter experimental format she began with Qwerty in 2023 and Qwerty II in 2024. Pitchfork reports that the new release contains seven tracks and arrived with less than a week’s notice. Stereogum also confirms the return of the series and reports that the EP is out through the Dirty Hit label.[1], [2]

Experiments between albums

In the release statement carried by both publications, Gray describes these EPs as experiments between larger projects and a way to document feelings that do not fit periods of change. She released Saya last year, following the full-length 19 Masters in 2022. Pitchfork reports that she regards Saya as her proper debut album. Stereogum notes that Saya received a Polaris nomination.[1], [2]

Songs and a live appearance

The published sequence opens with You??? Huh??? and ends with 2 2 Baboon.., with Guanyin 06/10/25 and Feral Child ;-0 among the other titles. Pitchfork reports that Gray plans to play the new material at a free house show in New York on November 9. Stereogum places the release after recent performances opening for Turnstile and a contribution to the Wildwood film soundtrack.[1], [2]
