Germany's flash rate was 2.9 per cent, Poland's 3.4 per cent
On the provisional estimate, consumer prices in Germany rose 2.9 per cent on the year and 0.2 per cent on the month in August, and the harmonised index showed the same rates. Core inflation excluding food and energy stood at 2.4 per cent. On the flash estimate, consumer prices in Poland rose 3.4 per cent in August against the same month a year earlier and 0.4 per cent against the previous month.[1], [2]
The annual energy rise reached 10.5 per cent
The annual rise in energy prices, Destatis said, went from 3.4 per cent in June and 8.3 per cent in July to 10.5 per cent in August. Food prices were nearly flat at 0.1 per cent on the year. Services inflation eased from 2.9 per cent to 2.8 per cent, while goods inflation rose from 2.5 per cent to 3 per cent. Core inflation at 2.4 per cent sat below the energy reading. Final results for August will be released on 10 September.[1]
Poland's flash carries no group breakdown
The annual price index stood at 103.4 and the monthly index at 100.4. The flash estimate carries no detailed group breakdown, and item-level data follow in the later release. The 3.4 per cent annual rise in consumer prices and the annual index of 103.4 belong to the same flash estimate. The 0.4 per cent monthly rise corresponds to the monthly index of 100.4.[2]
