CVC plans a two-chief-executive structure for 2028

CVC said TPG president Todd Sisitsky and its own president Peter Rutland will become co-chief executives by the first quarter of 2028. Current chief executive Rob Lucas will step back but remain involved in investment work and at group level. The arrangement spreads the transition over time by pairing an external hire with an internal leader at the listed private-equity firm.

A transition built around two names

Private-equity firm CVC said Todd Sisitsky and Peter Rutland will become co-chief executives by the first quarter of 2028. Sisitsky will leave TPG, where he has served as president since 2021, to join CVC; Rutland is CVC's current president. Semafor reported the same leadership change before CVC's announcement, saying Sisitsky would share the role with Rutland as current chief executive Rob Lucas steps down. The company is therefore pairing an external hire with an internal leader instead of selecting one successor.[1], [2]

Lucas is not leaving entirely

Rob Lucas will step back as chief executive when the transition is complete, but he will not leave the firm entirely. CVC said Lucas will remain involved at group level and in investment activities, retaining seats on the Europe and Americas investment committee, the Strategic Opportunities committee and the Catalyst committee. He will also remain a key person for Europe/Americas Fund X. The arrangement creates a long handover in which the outgoing chief executive keeps specified fund and committee responsibilities rather than transferring all authority on one day.[1]

Internal continuity, external experience

Rutland has spent 19 years at CVC and oversees its credit and insurance, secondaries and infrastructure strategies, while also serving as the long-standing head of its financial-services team. Sisitsky has worked at TPG for more than 23 years, with roles in healthcare investing and the leadership of TPG Capital before taking responsibilities across several private-equity strategies. CVC's co-chief-executive model combines an executive who already knows its business lines with experience brought in from another large private-equity group on the same management tier.[1]
