A record month for Mahindra’s auto business
Indian manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra reported October automotive sales of 131,109 vehicles including exports, a 9 per cent annual increase. Both its overall auto tally and domestic sport utility vehicle sales reached monthly records. Domestic utility vehicles totalled 73,338. The company’s automotive business president, Velusamy R, attributed the result to festive demand and a refreshed range of vehicles.[1], [2]
Domestic utility vehicles grow from September
Domestic utility-vehicle volume increased from 71,624 in the previous October and from 64,092 in September. Including exports, utility-vehicle sales reached 74,904. April–October domestic utility-vehicle sales totalled 431,480. Light commercial vehicles contributed 33,037 domestic sales in October, up about 4 per cent overall. The smaller category, below two tonnes, declined to 4,383 vehicles, while the two-to-3.5-tonne category reached 28,654.[1]
Three-wheelers and exports accelerate
Sales of three-wheelers, including electric models, increased 38 per cent to 17,632 in October. Auto exports rose 77 per cent, from 4,015 to 7,102 vehicles. The reported 131,109 total covers utility vehicles, light commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and exports. Mahindra presents its heavier trucks and buses and farm-equipment figures as separate business totals; they are outside this automotive tally.[1]
