Netherlands pledges €10 million for Ukraine training centres

The Netherlands has pledged €10 million to help modernise military training centres in Ukraine. Defence Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced the contribution at an EU defence ministers’ meeting in Brussels. The Dutch ministry says the money concerns two centres; independent reporting confirms the amount and purpose without specifying the number. The announcement adds to European efforts to train Ukrainian personnel in their own country.

A pledge made in Brussels

The Netherlands will contribute €10 million to military training centres in Ukraine, Defence Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced at a meeting of EU defence ministers in Brussels on 28 September. European Pravda’s Brussels correspondent separately reported the minister’s pledge and the amount. The money is intended to support the training of Ukrainian military personnel inside Ukraine. Both accounts describe a planned contribution, rather than a completed transfer or finished work at a centre.[1], [2]

Two centres in the ministry’s plan

The Dutch Ministry of Defence says its contribution will help modernise two training centres. It describes a technologically advanced setting for Ukrainian service members and says the work will be carried out with other European countries. The two-centre count comes from the ministry’s own statement; European Pravda’s account confirms the pledge but gives no number of centres. The statement names an intended use for the funds, not a completed modernisation.[1]

Training inside Ukraine

The planned centres are in Ukraine, so the stated purpose is to train Ukrainian personnel in their own country. The minister’s Brussels announcement places the Dutch contribution alongside other European efforts, according to the ministry. European Pravda reports the same central commitment from the meeting. Neither account says when the €10 million will be disbursed or when the centres will be ready. The present development is therefore the funding pledge and its stated training purpose, with delivery still ahead.[1], [2]
