Russia’s Federal Security Service announced the detention of a minor after a US warning about a possible attack at Moscow’s Tsaritsyno park. The agency thanked American counterparts for information and described alleged material found during its investigation. The accusations remain independently unverified, while Russia’s Investigative Committee considers further legal action.

Russian security service announces the detention

Russia’s Federal Security Service, the domestic security agency known as the FSB, announced on Sunday that it had detained a minor after an American warning about an alleged attack threat at Moscow’s Tsaritsyno park. The agency identified the suspect as a Russian citizen but did not release a name. The announcement followed the US embassy’s public alert on Saturday.[1], [2]

Investigation centres on alleged online material

The FSB described material allegedly found on a social-media account and the suspect’s phone. It interpreted that content as evidence of an attack plan. Those accusations have not been independently verified. The agency said Russia’s Investigative Committee, the body handling criminal investigations, was considering further legal action. A court has not found the detained suspect guilty.[1]

American information preceded the police action

The US embassy had advised Americans to avoid Tsaritsyno, a museum and park complex in southern Moscow, and said it was coordinating with Russian authorities. Russian officials closed the park and introduced security measures. The FSB thanked American counterparts for supplying information that assisted the investigation. The announced development is a detention following the warning; authorities have not announced that an attack took place at the park.[1]
