Haiti’s home leg against the United States moves to Miami

Concacaf has approved an exceptional hosting arrangement that moves Haiti’s November 14 Nations League quarterfinal against the United States from Kingston to Miami. Haiti remain the designated home side. Separate approval is required for each application, while the November 17 return leg in Cincinnati keeps its existing date and kickoff time.

Haiti keep home status in Miami

Haiti’s home-designated Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal first leg against the United States has been moved from Kingston in Jamaica to Miami in the United States. The change concerns the venue of the same quarterfinal fixture.[1], [2]

The match will take place at Nu Stadium in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, November 14. It had been scheduled for Sabina Park in Kingston. Haiti retain their home designation even though they will play in the opposing national association’s country. The second leg remains on November 17 with its existing kickoff time, also in the United States, at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.[1]

The council grants a Haiti-specific exemption

Concacaf, the football confederation, announced the exceptional arrangement on October 22. Haiti’s football federation submitted its request formally to the confederation’s administration, asking for the exceptional hosting arrangement that the Council subsequently approved. The administration referred it to the Concacaf Council, which approved the measure citing the continuing security situation in Haiti.[1]

The existing regulations confined Haiti’s relocated home fixtures to the Caribbean region. The exemption extends the possible location to the territory of the opposing member association. Its application to the United States quarterfinal therefore changes both the stadium and the geographic restriction that had governed Haiti’s home-designated matches away from its own country.[1]

Every match still needs separate approval

The arrangement requires a separate decision for every proposed match. Concacaf’s administration must approve the application, the opposing association must agree and the selected stadium must satisfy the confederation’s venue guidelines. The council’s decision does not itself give Haiti an unrestricted choice of venue for all subsequent home fixtures.[1]

The exemption can also extend to Haitian clubs. The Concacaf Council retains authority to review, amend or withdraw the arrangement while the security situation persists. For the already announced national-team tie, the confirmed changes are the first-leg venue and the special hosting permission; the return fixture retains its previously announced date and kickoff time.[1]
