Leeds starts the nine-stage race

The route for the 2027 Tour de France Femmes, the women’s cycling stage race, has been unveiled in Paris. It will start in Leeds in England and finish on the Puy de Dôme in France, with a team time trial in London.[1], [2]

Race director Marion Rousse presented the sixth edition at the Palais des Congrès on October 22. The nine-stage programme runs from July 30 to August 7. Leeds–Manchester opens the race, followed by Manchester–Sheffield. Yorkshire’s short, steep climbs feature in those first two days before the riders head to London for stage three.[1]

London hosts the first team time trial

London’s stage is the first team time trial in the event’s history and completes the three-stage English opening. The 2027 race will be the third to start outside France, after the Netherlands in 2024 and Switzerland in 2026. In France, stage four finishes in Calais and stage five in Magnanville.[1]

The organiser highlighted difficult late sections on both of those French stages. Stage six ends in Bourges, where the route presentation identified a bunch sprint as more likely. The programme then turns towards the Massif Central mountain region in central France for the final three days, beginning with a finish at La Loge des Gardes.[1]

The final stages climb into the Massif Central

Stage eight has six climbs before reaching Clermont-Ferrand. The city hosted the start in 2023 and another visit in 2025, making 2027 its third appearance on the race’s route. The ninth and final stage ends on the Puy de Dôme, where the general classification will be settled after the British opening and the varied French stages.[1]

The same presentation also announced a separate amateur ride on August 8, after the professional race. Its route of 138 kilometres starts at the Panoramique des Dômes and finishes at the Charade circuit. It includes 2,460 metres of climbing, with Côte de Guéry and Super Besse among the ascents. The amateur event is separate from the professional nine-stage programme.[1]
