Lazio beat Parma after Taylor breaks the second-half deadlock

Lazio beat Parma 2-1 at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico after a goalless first half. Kenneth Taylor opened the scoring in the 50th minute, and Diego Carlos’s own goal doubled the lead eight minutes later. Simone Lontani replied deep into added time. Parma had threatened before the interval, but Christos Mandas’s saves helped Lazio reach halftime level before the decisive scoring sequence.

Mandas keeps Parma out before halftime

Lazio defeated Parma 2-1 in Italy’s Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. All three goals came after a goalless first half. Kenneth Taylor opened the scoring in the 50th minute and Diego Carlos’s own goal made it 2-0 in the 58th. Simone Lontani replied in the 95th, but Parma could not find an equaliser. The result left Lazio at the top of the league and gave Parma a third consecutive defeat.[1], [2]

Parma had threatened on first-half counterattacks. David Romero forced Christos Mandas into a near-post save with his legs, and the Lazio goalkeeper also stopped an El Bilal Touré header. At the other end, Gustav Isaksen struck the crossbar with a header and later put the ball into the net, only for offside to rule out the goal. Those chances left the teams level at the interval.[1], [2]

Taylor and an own goal establish a two-goal lead

Taylor’s breakthrough followed a Reda Belahyane pass intended for Mattia Zaccagni. The ball struck Diego Carlos and reached Taylor, who curled a left-footed shot from the edge of the area into the far bottom corner. Davide Frattesi then fired over as Lazio sought another goal. Parma’s attempt to play out from defence preceded the second: Nuno Tavares crossed from the left and Diego Carlos diverted it into his own net while trying to prevent Tijjani Noslin finishing.[2]

Lontani’s late reply cannot rescue Parma

Parma introduced Lontani for Ordonez in the 63rd minute. He sent one added-time attempt narrowly wide before his delivery from the left byline struck the inside of the far post and crossed the line; goal-line technology confirmed the goal. Parma coach Alberto Gilardino said the team had played well before the interval but conceded too easily. Mandela Keita also acknowledged a decline after Lazio’s goals. Lazio had further chances through Zaccagni, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Frattesi without extending the score. Parma’s next league fixture was scheduled against Udinese at the Tardini on October 28.[1], [2]

Parma had also introduced Bernabé for Sierro at halftime. Frigan later replaced Diego Carlos, while Fabbian came on for Romero.[1]
